Africa Democracy on Code Red
On the 30th of September 2021, ReadyToLeadAfrica organized a hybrid conference tagged “African Democracy on CODE RED” a 76th UNGA side event to mark the 2021 International Democracy Day.
The conference had approximately 40 people in attendance inclusive of high profile guests of reputable character and successful track records. It was a call on all Executive and Legislative branch representatives on the aversion of coup and to ensure sustainable democracy in Nigeria. In attendance, were prominent representatives from the Nigerian diaspora, Commissioner Obi (Joe Biden/Harris African Diaspora Lead) and Dr Iyore who gave profound remarks on the topic of discussion through transmitted virtual mode which was for about 30 minutes.
Two panel sessions were held and each had distinguished lead discussants from various reputable organizations, present was Mr. Hamzat Lawal CODE, senator Ajibola (NASS), Bulus Asten (NBA) Chairman, Oniofiok Kings (Ecowas Youth Ambassador), Efemena (YIAGA) and Dr. Benson Upah (Nigeria Labour Congress) representative. They were asked questionsby the moderator of the panel, Mr. Godbless Otubure, about their motion on military administration or democracy rule to the development, security and unity of Nigeria and how their resolutions can stop the next coupe from happening in Nigeria and West Africa.
Other notable representatives and attendees were also given opportunities to ask questions, air their opinions and suggestions that will proffer solutions to true sustainable democracy in Nigeria and the West African sub-region. This session lasted for 2 hours. The conference was captured by various media press agencies and their representatives with the likes of Channels TV, TVC News, Sun News, Vanguard News and Arise News.
Goodwill messages from partners of various organizations YIAGA Africa, AWL and NASS were duly delivered for about 40minutes.
